Luke Pollard MP Labour & Co-op Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport
Luke Pollard MP has praised the “amazing work” of his constituency staff after the financial total of people helped by his office passed the £2 million mark.
As Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, Luke employs a small team of caseworkers to help him to make representations to different agencies on behalf of the constituents who contact him.
Since being elected in 2017, Luke has been keeping track of the sums of money him and his team have secured for constituents who have asked him for help – which passed £2 million at the end of October.
Luke’s team help people who are having difficulty with public services and have helped over 6,000 people with their issues so far this year.
Luke Pollard, Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, said:
“Since I was first elected in 2017, I have been keeping a track of the financial gains that have been made on behalf of the people in Plymouth my team have helped. Recently, this total has just topped the £2 million mark.
“I am so proud of the amazing work that we do and want to thank all of the team who work so hard to achieve this. People have been hit hard by the cost of living crisis, which has led to a huge number of people contacting my office to get help accessing financial support.
“Each and every pound returned to people in Plymouth by me and my team not only improves the personal finances of that individual and their family but is more money that can be spent in our local economy.”
In June 2018, Luke Pollard became Plymouth’s first ever MP with a city centre office. Luke’s team based in his Frankfort Gate office have run twice weekly drop-ins on Tuesdays and Thursdays for nearly five years with a brief break for COVID.
