Luke with Mr Tony Carpanini when he visited Luke’s constituency office to show him his medal
I’m delighted to have helped Mr Tony Carpanini from Plymouth to receive a medal for his service in Britain’s nuclear tests in the fifties and sixties, after a struggle with the MoD.

Everyone who served – those still alive and those who have passed – deserve recognition for their service during the tests.

The medal is awarded to UK Service and civilian personnel, and individuals who served at the locations where the UK atmospheric nuclear tests were conducted, including the preparatory and clear-up phases, between 1952 and 1967. The medal is also awarded to UK personnel who served at locations where American atmospheric nuclear tests took place in 1962 under Operation DOMINIC.

I’ve been backing the campaign for Nuclear Test Medals for some time and I’m glad that they are now finally being awarded. It should not have taken decades for these veterans to be recognised.
If you are struggling to receive your medal, do get in touch with me.
