Luke with Citizens Advice

From April 2023, the Department for Work and Pension (DWP) began to slowly increase the number of people being asked to Move to Universal Credit.

From January 2024 this will effect claimants in Plymouth Sutton and Devonport constituency. The focus during 2024 will be for those people that are currently receiving tax credits to move over to Universal Credit. If you are receiving tax credits, you should receive a letter from the DWP explaining how this process will work.

At the point of moving over to Universal Credit, all legacy benefit claimants will be assessed for transitional protection and paid where appropriate. The aim of this temporary payment is to maintain benefit entitlement at the point of transition so that claimants will have time to adjust to the new benefit system.

You can find out more about this through the Government website HERE

Or, alternatively, the Citizens Advice have an advice page HERE

If you are asked to apply, please seek advice before doing so.
