Luke Pollard MP Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport
Today I have sponsored Labour’s motion in Parliament calling for an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza
The speaker will decide if MPs can vote on it.
Keir has been calling for weeks for the fighting to stop and aid to get in. The situation is evolving, and the prospect of an Israeli military assault on Rafah – where 1.4 million Palestinians are displaced – is intolerable
For a ceasefire to last, it must be observed by all sides, Hamas must return all hostages, and aid must get in unhindered to civilians in Gaza.
Our call for ceasefire is shared by Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and reflects the language used by the UN Secretary General and supported by more than 150 countries.
