Luke Pollard MP Labour & Co-op Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton & Devonport
Last week I hosted the second edition of Plymouth’s Big Conversations. This time the topic was a deep dive into Plymouth’s built heritage.
We do not do enough to look after our heritage as a city. Plymouth has some incredible heritage buildings but too many are in a state of disrepair.
We must be bolder as a city to pile pressure on those who own historic buildings to understand they’re not owners but stewards and temporary custodians. These buildings may belong to them, but they mean something to our city.
My message to the owners is simple: invest in them or sell to someone who will.
Many thanks to Ben Wilcox, Chris Robinson, Simon Hickman and Sefryn Penrose for joining the panel and to Nudge’s co-director, Hannah Slogget, for chairing.
